Scenery, light, and elements are all factors that change on a constant while out storm chasing. That also means camera settings are constantly being manipulated and changed to achieve the desired results from the elements in the scene with the available lighting. I call that run & gun photography. This is a shot from a run & gun setup in Kansas where I had about 3 minutes to shoot the scene before being rained/and or hailed out. I watched as the micro burst spit out a wall of energy right across the highway. If there happened to be any vehicles there, they wouldn’t be there anymore after that event. This was the first time I actually saw a micro burst in front of me happening, and not just the damage aftermath.
